Hard coating is a process that produces a dense, uniform
layer of aluminum oxide on the surface of an aluminum part. This coating is
harder than case hardened or chrome steel, yet still retains the light
weight and excellent working quality of aluminum.
Hardcoat anodizing assures product dimensional stability
in high performance applications. Hardcoating is particularly resistant to
abrasive wear and it builds evenly on all surfaces regardless of
configuration. This increases product wear and life and often can facilitate
the use of a less expensive aluminum material for part fabrication as
opposed to stainless or higher grades of steel or the cost of a hard chrome
plating finish.
